UK Authorities Link Crypto Entrepreneur to Illegal Drug Operation
UK authorities have connected cryptocurrency entrepreneur Faisal Tariq to an industrial estate in Northampton raided by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). The operation uncovered thousands of unlicensed Alluvi-branded weight loss pens containing retatrutide—an unapproved clinical trial drug—alongside raw chemicals, manufacturing equipment, and £20,000 in cash.
Despite the seizure, Alluvi's website remained active, citing 'high demand' for unavailable products. Its Telegram channel continued attracting buyers, fueling speculation that production has relocated. The Guardian's investigation tied Tariq to the estate, though no arrests were made.
The case highlights regulatory gaps between crypto ventures and pharmaceutical enforcement. As digital asset markets mature, such cross-sector scrutiny may intensify.
